Shio and Pepe Restaurant at Marina Square Singapore

So, as usual, I was browsing through Instagram and a lobster pizza caught my eye! Wow! I like lobster and I like pizza! So, took a screen shot of the photo to remind me that we are going to eat that pizza on Saturday!

Come Saturday, we managed to go to the Shio and Pepe restaurant- they are serving the lobster pizza. It's a dream come true – well, not exactly. Haha. When I saw the restaurant's menu from their provided iPad, the lobster pizza costs SGD 36! I had a mental battle from then on! Haha. It's not just because it's kind of expensive for a pizza. But, I was also thinking if I will be the only one who will eat it all because my friend wanted another dish. Sigh. So I had to give up the opportunity (for now) haha. Anyways, here's some photos from the restaurant and the food we tried.

This is the interior of the restaurant. I understand that this a marriage of Italian and Japanese menu – but I have to say, i didn't quite get the design. In short, it's not exciting as I'd like it to be.

I ended up finishing this margerhita pizza all to myself haha… but, I wish that I still ordered the Lobster pizza because this does not have a lot of flavor in it.

We also had this fries with mayo and furikake – this, I really like a lot! The mayo and furikake combination is just so good!

My friend had the burger patty with mushroom – the burger patty is good. Just forgot to taste the other veggies with the sauce so unfortunately I really can't say anything much about it.

All in all, I think it is just ok. Love the furikake fries. I think I will come back if I'm ready to buy that SGD 36 worth of lobster pizza already. 😊

Burg Kitchen at Suntec

We were looking for somewhere to eat on weekends as usual and we were at Suntec. We passed by a row of Japanese food restaurants at Suntec. I saw the picture of Burg Kitchen’s burger patty and cheese (cheese!!!) and of course I had to give in 😋

Their restaurant is at the back of some other restaurants so we had to walk along this narrow pathway

We sat at those comfortable sofa on the left 😊

We were surprised that they only have 2 items on their menu. And this buffet spread of salads, pasta, desserts, etc is already included. Wow!

Me and my Friend ordered the same. The burger patty with cheese came with spaghetti (it’s delicious as well), rice and miso soup. You can tell, we needed to exercise right after this dinner! Haha

CUT by Wolfgang Puck – restaurant review

I’ve been wanting to try to eat here, at last, we had a reason to as it was my birthday!

I thought there will not be a lot of people as it was Sunday, but it was full house that day.

The ambience is very casual unlike any other high-end restaurants. I liked the service too – the staff were friendly and they really made us feel welcomed. Although, the music that they were playing in the restaurant could have been a little bit more subtle – jazz maybe?

I loved the parmesan cheese sticks by the way and it’s complimentary. I think they replenished it twice on our table. LOL.

Overall, the food is great, the service is big – although on expensive side, but I think it’s worth it!

See below for what we order that day.

Prawn cocktail – I LOVE this! The prawn was so fresh and the sauce was refreshing and light. I will definitely order this again when we come back.

Tim Ho Wan Singapore Review

Another repeat visit for me but this time around I am going to blog it. Haha.

I heard a lot about Tim Ho Wan when it first opened in Singapore. However, I didn’t visit until last month (?). I don’t know why though but I regret that I didn’t.

We visited their restaurant at Aperia Mall (Lavender MRT station – nearest station) which is open for 24 hrs. How lucky the people who are living nearby? hehe.

Getting there :

Address : 12 Kallang Avenue #01-01/02/03 Aperia Mall Singapore 339511. I am pretty sure there’s a better direction but this is how we got there. From the Lavender MRT station, we took the exit A. Right after you came out of the stairs, take a left and walk a little bit. The restaurant will be on your left if you take this route. Continue reading

What I learned from Canon SG50 Food Styling workshop

IMG_2720

So I decided to attend the Canon SG50 Food Styling workshop last week. I had buffet dinner the night before that so I didn’t know how this another buffet would go down haha.

So what did I really learn from the workshop?

The workshop may not have all those technical stuff about food photography I thought I would learn, but I learned some valuable lessons that I already know before but really didn’t apply it intentionally in food photography/styling.

It is to take a moment, think, plan and be creative with the styling of the food you are going to take a picture. That’s it!

Aside from eating them of course, I would like to take photos of food and share to social media. I like it when people like the photo. And they will like if it looks good.

Before you snap and share it to social media. Tweak it a little bit for it look good. Take pictures from different angles and select whichever is the best.

We all know this already. There’s really no secret in taking good food photos. But, it’s good to know that really is what the food photographer/stylist professionals do. So before you snap, take a moment and let your creativity flow.

RISE buffet restaurant review at Marina Bay Sands Singapore

FullSizeRender-2

We had a chance to try the Rise Buffet restaurant at Marina Bay Sands last July 31, 2015. It was a special day so I couldn’t say no to a buffet.

I went to their site to have a reservation. I like that you can already do this online.

The restaurant is located at the Marina Bay Sands hotel lobby, Tower 1. The staff are very friendly and very accomodating. My reservation was at 7:15pm but they already allowed us to enter to start the feast at 6:15pm.

I love the ambience of this restaurant as compared to other buffet restaurant. We were able to chit chat properly and I didn’t feel that it’s ‘busy’. You know, when you are on a buffet restaurant and you feel like people walk all around you to get food. I didn’t feel that here.

The food was fantastic. I mean, it was SO GOOD for a buffet! I actually tried to walk around first to take some photos but I was tempted to take a soup and bread and then I forgot everything hahaha.

Please see below pictures for your pleasure! (I suddenly get hungry just by looking at all these pictures!)

Watanabe Coffee review

IMG_2985

Located at Orchard Isetan Scotts, after watching the Paper Towns movie, we delighted ourselves for a food adventure at Watanabe Coffee.

The restaurants looks very cozy and appealing from the outside which made us want to try to eat here. They have a nice decor and warm ambience.

The problem that I see with their table set up is that, sometimes, you have to share the big table with other strangers who are just sipping coffee or go there for desserts. I remember seeing a couple who was with a family on the round table – they are not related to each other – can you just imagine how awkward that would be!

We were seated at the far end of the long table (the one on the right when you enter the restaurant) which was a problem because the staff cannot see us. I had to stand up 3 times for them to take our order, for me to ask for water and again for the utensils because the staff forgot to give it to us. Aaaarrrggghhhh ….
